Trading the Details, February 2009

Trading the Details

Remember when you were a kid, you sometimes would say “I don’t like this one, can I trade with you?” Sometimes your friend wasn’t so sure he anted to trade and you would have to convince him that yours was better. At times the convincing worked, other times it didn’t. When it worked you may not have been so happy because your friend was really enjoying what you had to start with.

As adults do you wish you could say, “I’ll take yours, you take mine” for example, I’ll take your (health, financial statements, life, etc), you take mine. We do it all the time, we just use different words and don’t finish the sentence with a “let’s trade.”

“Look at their house, it’s beautiful, I wish I lived there”

“Isn’t his car great?”

“I wish I had that kind of money”

We would love to trade houses, cars, bank accounts and details in life if the other person has what we want, or what we think we want. Just like when we were kids, we thought we wanted the candy and toys our friend had until we actually traded. As adults, the grass is greener on the other side until we get there, and find the water bill to cost more than we ever anticipated. Adults and kids make decisions and choices in life, all of which we have to live with. Some are very well thought out and some are not, done without any thought at all. We have to live with the details, possibly paying a big price or reaping huge benefits. I hope your choices lead to great details and benefits, ones that you don’t want to trade.

If you need help with choices and decisions in your life, please call me. Call before you make the choices so you will benefit and enjoy the details. My first appointment is free of charge.
