DEFINING MOMENTS

Defining moments, those moments in life that come as a surprise and can be as simple as a comment. Comments or experiences that cause us to change direction, stop doing something and start doing something else. We remember them for a lifetime. In these situations we are the ones choosing to change.

There are other defining moments in life, we could more aptly call them crisis moments. They may look like the sudden loss, accident or extramarital affair. We remember them for a lifetime. In these cases our comfort zone disappears, the masks we wear in life are off. Normal life is suddenly gone and a new normal takes over. People see us for how we truly are because we don’t have time to think about how to act, instead we react. In these defining moments we are not making the choice to change, the change is forced on us which makes it much more difficult. Recovering from these types of defining moments takes time, support and encouragement. We will never be the same after moments like this, we will be stretched in ways we are not used to stretching. After the crisis is over, the choice to change becomes ours again, to change into new, improved and stronger people.

Defining moments happen in everyone’s life. A sudden defining moment, otherwise called a crisis moment lead me to become a personal coach. Without that moment, Confident Directions, LLC wouldn’t exist nor would this newsletter get sent to over 375 people and audiences wouldn’t have listened. My clients past, present and future would be at a loss for direction, guidance and stress reduction.

I have coached lots of people trying to make sense of a defining moment. If that is you, please don’t wait, call me. You will recover sooner and smoother and the stretch won’t be so painful.
